Post–impressionism
Painting
from 1880s to 1900, FrancePaul Gauguin, Vincent van Gogh, Georges Seurat, Tolouse-Lautrec, Henri Rousseau...
There is no single well–defined style of Post–Impressionism, but in general it is less casual and more emotionally charged than Impressionist work. Post–impressionist artists were influenced by Impressionism but took their art in different directions.
Among the Post–Impressionists are Les Nabis, — a Parisian group of artists and illustrators who became very influential in the field of graphic art, — and The Pointillists, — a form of painting in which the use of tiny primary–color dots is used to generate secondary colors.
Rousseau’s canvases invite us into the world of fairy–tales . His pictures often resemble digital photos manipulated in Photoshop.
